Datura, Jimson Weed, Angel's Trumpet

Daturas are recognized especially by their striking, trumpet shaped flowers. Daturas grow world wide through all warm and tropic climates. There are many species of Datura varying in height from 3 - 10 feet, all sharing the stunning flowers.

We are also proud to offer the very rare Datura Metel var. Gor'e Island seeds. It is now known to be a new and very rare strain of the triple purple bloomed datura resembling the variety "cornucopia" only Datura metal var. Gor'e Island reaches ten feet easily and sometimes taller. It was collected off the coast of Senegal by Mark D'Amico on Gor'e Island originally in 1995. It germinates slowly at around 80 degrees. Blooms first appear in September and if overwintered indoors in a sunny spot will continue to bloom well after Christmas. In mid spring it blooms again . In a large container it can be expected to get 7 feet tall with no difficulty and can reach 10 feet and very occasionally even taller. It is now believed to be extinct in the wild.
